We noticed the German shepherd in the city park a few weeks ago. Every day, she would appear at about the same time, looking unkempt but with intelligent, attentive eyes.

She carried an old paper bag in her mouth and would approach people, almost begging them with her gaze. Many felt sorry for the animal and put bread, sausages, or buns in her bag.
But the strange thing was that the dog never ate any of it herself. As soon as she got some food, she would immediately leave, disappearing into the depths of the park, vanishing among the trees.
At first, we didn’t think much of it, but then our curiosity grew. Where was she taking all these treats? Why didn’t she eat them herself when she clearly looked hungry? Eventually, curiosity got the better of us, and we decided to follow her.
That evening, we followed the shepherd—and what we saw left us in shock 😱😱

She wandered along the winding paths for a long time, then turned toward an old, long-abandoned house at the edge of the park. Through the rotten windows and collapsed roof, we could see that someone was inside.
The dog entered carrying her bag, and we heard a quiet male voice.
When we peeked inside, we saw a man — thin, with a worn-out face, his leg crudely bandaged with rags, moving with great difficulty.
The German shepherd approached him and carefully emptied all the food from the bag in front of his hands. The man looked at her as if she were his only friend in the world.
The man told us that several weeks ago, one night, he witnessed a pack of stray dogs attacking this German shepherd.
He wasn’t afraid to intervene and chased them off, but one of the dogs managed to bite his leg badly. Since then, he hasn’t been able to walk properly, and he had nowhere to live — that’s why he ended up in the abandoned house.

The shepherd, as if understanding that he couldn’t get food for himself, had come to people every day with the bag, bringing all the food to him. She didn’t eat a single crumb herself, giving everything to her savior.
Our hearts ached for them all. We helped the man get out of the abandoned house, called doctors, treated his wound, and found temporary shelter.
We bought a big bag of food for the dog and gave her water and food. She finally allowed herself to eat — for the first time in many days.
But the whole time we were nearby, she didn’t leave the man’s side for a single step.
