My son heard strange noises coming from the mirror in his room, but we didn’t believe him until one day we checked ourselves and saw something terrible

Lately, my five-year-old son had started behaving very strangely. He became nervous, often flinching at every little sound, especially at night. I chalked it up to his age — maybe a crisis, maybe impressionability, maybe just imagination. Every child goes through that.

But day by day, it only got worse. He would wake up in the middle of the night screaming, run into our bedroom in tears, and repeat the same thing:

— I hear them… They’re whispering… Someone is there…

At first, my husband and I joked about it. Then we just tried to calm him down. I would hug him, stroke his head, and say:
— It’s just a dream, sweetie. There’s no one there. We checked.

Several times, for his peace of mind, we carefully inspected the whole room: under the bed, in the closet, behind the curtains — and, of course, behind that big mirror hanging on the wall. Nothing.

But yesterday everything changed.

My husband and I were sitting in the living room in the evening, watching a movie. It was quiet and calm.

Suddenly, our son ran into the room, all in tears, his face twisted in terror, lips trembling, shouting:

— He’s back! He’s there, behind the mirror! A monster! I hear him!

— Son, — my husband started, — we already talked about this…

— Please, get him out! He’s there! I hear him hissing!

My husband sighed heavily and stood up. I followed him. It was quiet in our son’s room. Too quiet. Only a slight tension hung in the air.

— There, — whispered our son, pointing at the mirror. — He’s there…

We approached closer. We looked. Silence. But at one moment, it seemed to me as if… the mirror trembled slightly. Just a little, like a barely noticeable movement of air. My husband stepped forward sharply and, without warning, tore the mirror off the wall.

And at that moment, we both screamed.

Behind the mirror, in the gap between the wall and the drywall, a huge black snake was writhing.

Its scales softly rustled against the concrete. That was the very sound my son had heard. He hadn’t made it up. He had sensed it.

We immediately called the rescue services. Specialists arrived, and only they were able to pull the reptile out of the wall. It turned out that somehow it had slipped in from the basement and lived there, in the narrow space between the wall and the paneling. Exactly where the mirror had hung.

Now the mirror is removed. The wall has been sealed. And as a mother, I’ve drawn an important conclusion for myself.

I will always believe my son. Even if he talks about monsters. Sometimes children sense things that adults simply don’t want to notice.
