Yesterday was unbearably hot. The air was completely still, the asphalt was melting beneath my feet, and all I wanted was to get home as quickly as possible and turn on the air conditioner. But first, I decided to stop by the supermarket to pick up something for dinner.

In the parking lot, I was walking past the cars, squinting out of habit from the sun, when I suddenly felt something… strange. I turned around—and saw it. A German Shepherd.
It was sitting in a locked car, suffering from the heat. I immediately felt alarmed: the windows were fogged up from the heat, the dog was breathing heavily, its tongue hanging out, its eyes glassy. It was clear—she was already at her limit. If it’s 30°C outside, it’s much hotter inside a car.
I noticed a note on the windshield with a phone number. I called. A man answered. I tried to stay calm and explained:
“Your dog is suffering in this heat. Come back immediately—at least open a window!”
But all I got in return was a cold reply:
— “I left her some water. This isn’t your business.”
There was water—but in a sealed bottle. I was boiling with anger. How, tell me, is a dog supposed to drink water from a closed bottle?! I couldn’t wait any longer.

I picked up the nearest rock and slammed it against the window with all my strength. The glass shattered with a loud crack. The car alarm started blaring across the whole parking lot, but I didn’t care.
I pulled the dog out of the car. She collapsed next to me, panting heavily, but she was already feeling better. I poured water over her and called for help.
A few minutes later, the so-called “owner” came running. His face was twisted with rage:
— “What the hell are you doing?! I’m calling the police!”
And when the police arrived—something happened that none of us expected 😱😨
Well, he did call the police. But after hearing both sides and seeing the condition of the animal, the police decided that I was not the one who broke the law.

He was fined and a case was opened against him for animal cruelty, while I was shaken hands with and told “thank you.”
And the dog?
She is now at my home. A well-fed, happy bundle of loyalty. The very same German Shepherd who almost died yesterday due to someone’s irresponsibility is now sleeping at my feet. And you know what? I would break that window again. Without hesitation.
I don’t understand those irresponsible people who fail to realize that animals are living beings just like us and need care. They are not toys!
