I woke up as usual, headed to the kitchen to brew some coffee — and suddenly stopped in my tracks. On the wall, exactly where the kitchen connects to the living room, I noticed something unusual: a pinkish material was seeping from a crack. It looked both alarming and repulsive.

Since I live in a rental apartment, I called the landlord right away. He showed up quickly — within thirty minutes he arrived.
He gave it a quick glance, appeared annoyed, and said calmly:
— It’s just some old insulating foam, nothing to be concerned about.
He grabbed a tissue, put on gloves, wiped some of the mass off the wall, and left as if nothing was wrong. But I sensed he was hiding something.
His behavior made me uneasy. He seemed eager to leave and avoided giving any explanations. I decided I couldn’t just ignore it.
After he departed, I put on gloves, took a flashlight and a knife, and cautiously tried to peer inside the crack. Something inside… was moving. I panicked. The odor emanating was faint but unpleasant. When I finally understood what it was, I froze in horror 😱😱

I snapped a photo and sent it to a biologist I know.
A few hours later, he got back to me and said it resembled a fungal colony with mycelium, or possibly parasitic insects that were using the insulation and warmth of the wall as a habitat.
He explained that this kind of infestation usually occurs in tropical climates or poorly ventilated areas. According to him, it might have been developing for years — and if left untreated, it could pose a significant health hazard, particularly to the lungs.

I left the apartment immediately. Since then, the landlord hasn’t responded to my calls.
I can’t stop worrying — what if it wasn’t just mold? Why was he so eager to wipe it away? Why did he refuse to investigate further?
I’m terrified there’s something living inside that wall… something I probably should never have discovered.
