For several days in a row, the farmer heard faint meowing coming from the chicken coop. He inspected the place thoroughly several times but found neither cats nor kittens. As soon as he appeared in the coop, the sound would stop, as if the little ones fell silent out of fear of the human.
Finally, Goran managed to find the source of the sound. The kittens were hiding in a very unusual place: under the wings of a white hen.
The man was convinced that the hen was sitting on eggs, but when he decided to check, he discovered that she was warming three kittens.
Most likely, the kittens ended up near the hen by accident; perhaps they had sneaked into the coop to get warm or simply to satisfy their curiosity.
The hen took pity on the little ones and decided to keep them warm. She cannot feed her adopted babies—this task was taken over by the farmer—but she continues to provide them with warmth.
The farmer moved the unusual little family from the chicken coop to a separate room so that the other birds wouldn’t disturb the kittens or their new mother. What happened to the kittens’ real mother remains unknown.
