The wealthy heir mocked his fiancée in front of his mother simply because she worked as a mechanic at a car dealership. But only a few minutes later, he bitterly regretted every word he had said.
There was just over a month left until the wedding.

Dmitri was the only son of an extremely successful businessman.
He had been raised in a world of privilege. Since childhood, he had traveled in luxury vehicles, dressed in designer suits, and grown accustomed to believing that money could fix nearly any problem.
His mother held the same beliefs. She often reminded him that their family should socialize only with people of equal status.
When Dmitri announced that he was getting married, his mother immediately insisted on meeting his future wife.
“I hope she comes from a respectable family,” she said.
“Don’t worry. She’s beautiful and very smart,” Dmitri assured her.
They had arranged to meet outside a large car dealership where the young woman worked.
Dmitri’s mother arrived early. A sleek black luxury car pulled up smoothly near the entrance. She stepped out and surveyed the area with interest.
A few moments later, a young woman emerged from the service department wearing blue mechanic’s coveralls. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail, her hands were smudged with grease, and she carried several tools.
She smiled warmly as she approached them.
“Hello. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”
Dmitri’s mother slowly looked her up and down before turning toward her son.
“Wait a minute… She’s a mechanic?”
Dmitri gave an uncomfortable smile.
“Yes. She fixes cars.”
His mother’s expression changed at once.
“Are you actually planning to marry a woman who spends her entire day crawling underneath vehicles?”
The young woman said nothing.
Then Dmitri suddenly laughed.
“Honestly, Mom, I’m still not used to it either. Sometimes I come here and find her covered in grease, lying underneath a car. Can you imagine that?”
The two of them began laughing together.
“I think a wrench looks more natural in her hand than an engagement ring,” his mother said sarcastically.

“And maybe she should wear coveralls instead of a wedding gown,” Dmitri added.
Several employees in the service center overheard them and exchanged uneasy looks, but no one spoke.
The young woman calmly wiped her hands with a rag before quietly asking,
“Are you finished?”
“Not yet,” Dmitri replied with a smirk. “I just don’t understand why anyone would choose to work as a mechanic when she could find a proper job for a woman. Once we’re married, you won’t be coming back here.”
“Of course she won’t,” his mother said with a scornful smile. “The women in our family do not repair automobiles.”
The young woman stared at them silently for several seconds.
Then she did something that left everyone completely stunned.
Then she asked calmly,
“So you’re absolutely certain you know everything there is to know about this place?”
“Of course,” Dmitri replied with a mocking smile. “It’s nothing more than an ordinary auto service center.”
A faint smile appeared on her face.
“Then come with me.”
She led them slowly through the spacious showroom. Every employee they passed greeted her at once.
“Good morning.”
“Hello.”
“It’s nice to see you.”
Dmitri’s mother glanced around, visibly puzzled.
“Why is everyone addressing you like that?”
The young woman gave no reply.
She approached a glass door marked “Director,” unlocked it with an electronic key, and stepped inside.
Dmitri and his mother remained frozen in confusion.
The young woman sat behind a large executive desk, opened her laptop, and pressed a button on the intercom.
“Andrei, please come to my office.”

A few moments later, a well-dressed man in his fifties entered.
“Good afternoon. You wanted to see me?”
“Yes. Please prepare the paperwork for today’s transaction. And one more thing—cancel Dmitri’s vehicle order.”
The man nodded immediately.
“Certainly, ma’am.”
The room became so silent that the soft hum of the air conditioner was clearly audible.
Completely bewildered, Dmitri looked from the man to the young woman.
“Wait… Why did he call you ‘ma’am’?”
She met his eyes without the slightest hesitation.
“This dealership, the repair center, and the entire network of locations belong to me. My father and I established the company many years ago. After he passed away, I became its sole owner.
“From time to time, I work beside the mechanics in the service department because I genuinely enjoy repairing cars. I also believe an owner should understand exactly what is happening inside her own business.”
Dmitri’s mother went noticeably pale.
“But… why didn’t you ever tell us?”
“Because I wanted to see how you treated people who earn an honest living with their hands.”
Dmitri stepped toward her.
“Please forgive me. I was wrong. I only—”
She lifted her hand, cutting him off.
“No. You said exactly what you truly believed.”
She opened a folder resting on the desk.
“By the way, the new Rolls-Royce you purchased from us was already prepared for delivery. However, it will now be given to another customer—someone who actually respects the people who work for him.”
Dmitri stood there, completely speechless.
“Please. We can make this right.”
Without showing any emotion, the young woman slipped the engagement ring from her finger and placed it on the desk.
“Do you know what’s most ironic? While you were ridiculing me for wearing work coveralls, every employee around us remained silent only because they didn’t want to interrupt their boss.”
She smiled calmly.
“You may leave now. And the next time you decide to look down on someone because of their profession, make sure you understand exactly who you’re talking to.”
